Just as Jesus asked the apostles to make disciples of all nations, He commissions each of us to be his witness in today’s world. Teaching in a Catholic school allows me this opportunity. Each time I pray with my class, share the community of the Mass, or just invoke the name of Jesus with my students, I am fulfilling the mission I received at Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist. God gave each of us a vocation in life. What a wonderful setting a Catholic School is to fulfill a vocation. Not only do I get to enjoy seeing students grasp new concepts in academics, but I also get to share in their spiritual lives as well as they accept their roles as disciples of Jesus. The personal closeness and togetherness of a Catholic school can not be found in any other school setting. Teaching in a Catholic school is a privilege and a blessing I wouldn’t change.
